This year, we’re taking a new approach to auditions by going digital with recorded submissions. The process is simple, and you’ve already taken the first step by finding us!

Who can audition?

Don’t let our name fool you – anyone can perform with us! We provide a welcoming and safe place for anyone as long as they are able to sing within the Tenor and Bass range irrespective of gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, or race.

What musical knowledge or experience do I need?

Although highly desired, neither choral experience, vocal training, nor the ability to read music is required to sing with us. We understand not everyone has the opportunity to develop or refine their musical talents. So whether you’re classically trained, a shower singer, or somewhere in-between, we’d love for you to audition!at musical knowledge or experience do I need?

What COVID-19 precautions is the Chorus taking?

AGMC is requiring all singers planning to participate in-person to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 . Full vaccination is defined as having received at least two shots no later than 14 days prior to the first rehearsal date. Please upload the requested documents in advance to prevent exchange of documents at our rehearsal check-in.

What is the time commitment?

Joining the Chorus involves committing time to practices, performances, and rehearsals. Our season is divided into two semesters:

  • The fall semester runs from August through December.

    • The spring semester runs from January through June.

    • Weekly rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 7–9:45pm.
    • There are usually two full chorus performances per semester.
    • During show weeks, there are additional and mandatory tech and dress rehearsals.
    • Attending the in-town retreat will also be required.
    • The chorus is regularly asked to sing for community events, and we strongly encourage members to “lend their voice” a few times per year for these occasions.

    Note: Our attendance policy allows 3 absences per semester, and an additional 2 absences may be excused by attending sectional rehearsals.

Where does AGMC rehearse?

The first 3 rehearsals of Fall Semester 2022 will be at St. John’s United Methodist Church, located at 2140 Road, Austin, TX 78756.

Subsequent rehearsals for Fall will be at The First Baptist Church of Austin, located at 901 Trinity St, Austin, TX 78701

What are the membership dues?

Membership dues and performance fees help AGMC with licensing, production, administrative, and operational costs.

  • Membership dues are $25 annually and cover the entire season.
  • Performance Fees are an additional $95 per Semester.

If a member would like to be active the entire season, the total costs would be $215.
$25 for dues + $95 for Fall Semester + $95 for Spring Semester
